What should we wear?
Here are a few suggestions:
-Jewel/vivid tones and earth tones tend to be flattering to most & photograph best.
-Clothing that has detail and texture in the fabric looks awesome (corduroy, denim, lace).
-I love accessories & details such as hats, scarves, headbands, flowers in the hair, and fun jewelry.
-Layer clothing when possible…denim jacket over a dress, polo shirt under your little guy’s plaid shirt, etc.
-Dress your family so that everyone coordinates (rather than matching)… pick 3 or 4 colors and have everyone wear a variation of those.
-Don’t forget about the shoes or boots….these details will show as well!
-Choose colors and outfits that make you feel beautiful, and in which you all feel comfortable…this will show in your images!
What should we avoid?
-Try to avoid wearing all white shirts, or anything where everyone is dressed in exactly the same color. Everyone will blend together, and this makes your images less interesting.
-Avoid big, busy patterns or pieces with logos/branding words or characters that stand out….these tend to be distracting in your photos.

My favorites sites to check for the season are the Gap, Old Navy, Hanna Andersson, J.Crew/Crew Cuts (check out the “Looks we love!” sections)….or Pinterest!
What about Newborn Sessions?
-For Mom & Dad, I generally recommend a black tank top or black shirt, as this helps the baby stand out in your images.
-For the newborn, they are best photographed in nothing at all!
-If you have a favorite blanket, hat, headband or diaper cover that you’d like to include – please bring these to incorporate in your shoot.
Colors to consider:
Jewel Tones: Emerald green, amethyst purple, sapphire blue, tourmaline green, and turquoise blue
Earth Tones: Chocolate brown, pumpkin orange, eggplant purple, sage green.
Pastels: Pastel blue (chambray or worn denim), pastel pink, pastel green, pastel yellow, peach.
For children, I also love bright, vivid colors and/or accessories that best match their personalities!
